"Doc Challenge: Short Documentaries on Tel Aviv" Overview
A selection of short documentary films on Tel Aviv-Yafo, undoubtedly one of the most captivating cities in the world. The films were made for the Documentary Challenge, a unique competition for filmmakers, which was held in Israel for the first time, in the DocAviv Film Festival. The filmmakers who participated in the competition had only five days to make their films, about urban places and people.
This selection comprises the nine finalist films, including the film that won the Best Film Award, "The Lady with the Movie Camera," and the films that won Second Prize, "The Walking Man" and "Dog Fight." The rest of the films deal with a fascinating and surprising range of topics-people sitting on the porches of Tel Aviv; the best hummus in Jaffa; behind the sounds of the city; the last lady of Café Cassit; and a journey in search of the lowest place in Tel Aviv.
