The famous New York World's Fair is seen in its planning stages, including the construction of the landmark stainless steel Unisphere. The film -To The Fair!- then treats us to the fair in all its glory, complete with fabulous visions of the future, and promises of wonders to come. It's the World of Tomorrow, 1960s style! Then its on to Coney Island, the premier amusement park of New York in its heyday. Famous for the hot dogs, beach, boardwalk, Wonder Wheel, Cyclone,freak shows, and Steeplechase Park, generations have had the time of their lives at Coney. Also included is- Century 21 Calling- which show the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. It is presented by the Bell Phone Company, and it accurately predicted many communication technologies we take for granted today, such as call-waiting and push button dialing! Finally there's the future as seen in the 1939 New York World's Fair, represented by the film -Leave it to Roll-oh- . Roll-oh is a robot servant, a rather clunky thing, but the 1939 GM exhibit seemed to feel there would be one in every house, making dinner, answering the door, etc. Then there are are rare, nearly professional, color home movies of the 1939 fair. All in all, this DVD is a fun, historic, and entertaining collection of amusements from great times in America and not to be missed!
